Powerful Marketing on a Shoestring Budget

shoestringIn yesterday’s post, I recommended several ways to use social media to market your business.

I suggested that you find groups online and participate.  Here are some more specific ways to do that (without spending a cent).

Say, you’re an artist and want to sell your paintings.  You can:

1. Post photos of your work at online art galleries.

2. Check out listings of marketing workshops for artists.

3. Join chat rooms and artist forums where artists talk about their work and what they do to promote it (not just shop talk about the merits of oils vs. acrylics).

4. Check out art dealer web sites.

5. Bring your clients into the story about how you create your art.  More on this at Remarkablogger’s great post on artist blogging 101.

6. Take special requests, and hold an online live illustration party,  broadcasting while you draw like Martin Whitmore did. WARNING:  Marty’s work is edgy and he’s very fond of zombies and chain saws.  His site contains some words and images that are not safe for work.
