My friend from Peru can’t understand why people here in the US don’t vote. In Peru, it’s required. If you don’t vote (no matter where you live, even if you’re an expat), they fine you. She thinks it’s a good system.
I think it’s too much. But I do agree you should vote. It’s the one job you must do as a citizen. And Seth Godin is right, there should be free snacks. And (my own contribution) big badges that say, “I VOTED!”
So, if you’re in the US, follow Bob Schieffer’s mom’s advice,”Go vote now; it will make you feel big and strong.”
