A Quick Way to Get More Leads From Your Web Site

Ever go to a Web site and see a big graphic asking you to sign up for an email list or friend them on Facebook, without giving you a good reason? Connect with me! Link to me! Follow me! Ugh.
There’s nothing wrong with wanting to build your email list, or expand your circle of friends. However, before asking for information (that precious follower or email address) you have to give something.
Give First, Get Later
If you want people to sign-up for your newsletter, offer an “ethical bribe.” This can be an e-book, or a worksheet, or a calculator. Don’t hide it in a lonely corner of your Web site. Put it up front, on your home page (top right is best), where it’s easy to find.
Skip the Sales Pitch
Offer helpful advice that will entice your visitors to sign up and establish your credibility. Give your visitors something that helps them save time, cut costs, or even learn better ways to manage a project they may hire you for.
For instance, if you’re a web site designer, offer a booklet called, “10 Things Your Web Designer Doesn’t Want You to Know.” Or, “Has Your Web Designer Made These Common Web Design Mistakes?” A video editor might offer, “5 Strategies to Minimize Your Video Production Costs.”
Give people a reason to want to be on your list, because of all the great information they’ll get on how to save time, reduce stress, or increase earnings.
