Sure they can be annoying – when they’re unwanted. Using them to continually spam people on your list is not a good idea. But, like any other tool, it depends what you do with it.
How to Use Autoresponders For Good
Welcome new subscribers to your e- newsletter. When people sign up to receive my newsletter, I send them a welcome message, as well as a sample issue.
Help new customers use your product/service. When I signed up with AWeber, they sent me a series of helpful messages with tips on how create a message, what stats to look for, and how to personalize my messages.
Create a virtual classroom. Offer a series of emails that teach your customers something. Show them how to get more referral business, protect their computers from viruses, or improve email marketing.
Communicate with your customers. If you do send a “canned” message, don’t make it sound that way. Don’t just send an email saying, “We have received your message. We’ll get back to you.” That’s almost worse than no response. It’s canned and it sounds that way; it doesn’t show you’re trying to do anything about the problem.
